Thanks to everyone who recommended Mr. Soest for repairs on my jazzmaster. I've
been putting off a refret for the past year. I took my guitar in last night and
I'm thoroughly convinced that my guitar is in capable hands. The only drawbacks
are the cost (285 for a refret? Ouch!!!) and the waiting time (7 days wait for
an appointment!!! Then 10 days to do the work!!!! Double ouch!). However, if
anybody needs parts, Steve has got all kinds of great stuff for jazzmasters and
jaguars (pickups, bridges, etc. Alot of original parts, if thats your thing) I
think I saw an old fender reverb unit there too, but I'm not sure if it was for
sale (I try not to ask about things I can't afford). He also had a customized
Dan-O U-2, but I don't think it was for sale either (The thing had lipstick
pickups that were so huge, they looked like the bar for a pedal steel!!). I
guess he was part of the development team for the new U-2 line (5 bolts, p/u
design, etc.).
Thanks again. It was a treat for me to meet such a knowledgeable technician and
great surf guitarist.

Steve is in Orange, CA. He doesn't have a showroom, all his repairs/sales are
done by appointment only. However, he does have a website, where you can see
his inventory.
