Re: NAMM Ventures// was Deke Geek fest

Jeff (bigtikidude) - 24 Jan 2006 21:54:31

Marty,
A few of us were wondering why you weren't at the Deke thing.
I should have known that you'd be at the Ventures gig.
How did you get into that? Dusty Said he was gonna try, but it was
a very tough ticket to get.
How many times have you seen the Ventures? was it worth it again?
to not see the Deek Gig?
Remember last year when you were playing Drums with the Insects at
Taix, and I was there instead of at the Deke fest #2. where Nookie
played with Deke's Venturesmania, and Dick showed up also.
well I'm kicking my self for not going. But at least I got the
DVD of last years show, this year.

and was not at the show. Bob Spalding played bass. Nokie played
lead. Don Wilson played rhythm and Leon Taylor played the tubs. They
did mostly hits but threw in "Besame Mucho" and "El Cumbanchero".
Seymour Duncan, Jeff "Alabama" Cook and Alan "Yes" White joined in
towards the end.

Hey Jeff,
I just went to the NAMM show where the Ventures happened to be playing in the
late afternoon. I could have still made it to the Guitargeek thing 'cause it
started after the Ventures played at NAMM but I'm getting over a cold, so early
to bed was my prescription for the evening.

Marty,
well I hope you're feeling better.
But I think you really would have dug the shit out of the Deek
Geek Fest. Even though some of the surf crowd was there for the
Shadows and Link tributes. There was Tons of Pickin' and Grinnin'
stuff that would have been right up your alley.

Thanks Jeff. I know I would have dug the Geek Fest. I have a DVD of one of the
previous ones. Deke assembles some great players.

Marty,
well I hope you're feeling better.
But I think you really would have dug the shit out of the Deek
Geek Fest. Even though some of the surf crowd was there for the
Shadows and Link tributes. There was Tons of Pickin' and Grinnin'
stuff that would have been right up your alley.
