Graph Tech

Bob Cannistraro (bolderbobb) - 07 Nov 2005 20:39:27

I like the sound (and reduction in string breakage) of the Graph Tech
saddles better on my JM than any thing else I've tried. The saddles
come with springs that I think work better than the Fender springs. I
put a small piece of thick rubber band between each saddle. Solves the
problem of unwanted lateral movement and reduces rattles.
I'm also using nut sauce, but I just use it on the wound strings, at
the bridge. more help with string breakage.
There was a time when I could not get more than 2 gigs on a .030"
D'Addario chrome D string.

And speaking of nut sauce, has anyone tried the Stewart MacDonald guitar
grease? Sounds similar and is cheaper. Just a thought.
Also the idea of getting a machinist to whip you up a trem block is shear
genius.I have had a local machinist make one-off parts for my motorcycle for
years and have never thought about having him do a guitar part. What a
dummy, eh?

Bob,
If you're willing to "de-stock" your JM and use GraphTech
saddles, then why would you not also use the TremNut from
them? IOW, why use Nut Sauce when for the same price as
one bottle, you can have less mess, better performance,
and just as good a tone, IMHO.
