Phil:
I currently monitor and mix using AKG-240s also. I would
like to try "open air" mixing...in other words, I'd like to
take my old ears out from under the headphones and try
working with speakers for some of my mixing. Additionally,
I'd like to have a set of reference speakers to work with
when producing final mixes and mastering.
I would like to find some decent small "studio monitors"
that don't break the bank. I currently run Cakewalk Sonar
on my Dell laptop...I use a Tascam USB interface for the
inputs, outputs and monitor.
Does Edirol make anything decent, or is it junky stuff?
Any other suggestions on small-ish (4"-6" speakers) would
be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I have a pair of Edirol MA-10As which I like. They are not exactly
neutral monitors but they are WAAAAAY better than headphones for a
rough mix.

Thanks for the Edirol review! It's so hard to know and
judge all the different brands of equipment out there. I
know that with speakers, you usually get what you pay for,
however, I can't afford to buy JBL studio monitors for my
mini-home-studio setup.
There are so many different low to mid priced monitor
speakers out there...I guess I was fishing for
advice...what to look for, and especially what to avoid.
thanks again for your advice,
