Deke played a couple Mondays ago at a bar about a five minute walk from
my house (I was shocked--it's a pretty small place and I don't think
they ever had a nat'l act before) and he put on a great show. Backup
was just drums and stand-up bass (switching off a little when the
drummer for local band the Hi-Risers sat in). Good, solid rockabilly
for the most part, and some amazing pickin'.
Crowd was small (Monday night and minimal promotion) and made up of
mostly, as my son said, "aging gearheads".
