speaking of dick dale what the story with him having a relationship with a
underage girl. that got him in a lot of trouble in 70's,allso did he have a
surf shop in bolboa in the 70's and 80's.i met him a few times over the
years,he always seemed to be a few beers short of a six pack.he's the same
off stage as he's is on, over the top. bigger than life.one of a kind.god

I think that Dick's issues with the 16-year old daughter of
his wife (his step-relation, I think) was around 1979-1980.
It may have been a "divorce" allegation. I think that
might be what happened to the Gilette Mansion and all
Dick's other real estate...whether it was a "payoff" or a
"divorce settlement" i don't know the official
outcome...but, it seemed to resolve itself with very little
public fanfare here in SoCal. The incident did tarnish
Dick's reputation for decades, that's for sure.
