Anyone out there heard these guys? Very cool, very retro. They are a
surf band from Croatia. I don't think they have ever toured the USA.
Their most recent work was opening for REM in Euorpe. Cool website.
Check out Theme From Slaying Beauty.
I love the Bambi Molesters, as do the majority here on the board. All
of their CDs are amazing. Dalibor and Dinko are a great combination on
guitars. They also have a great DVD out. It may still be available at

Oh yeah! FANTASTIC stuff. As a matter of fact, I was just listening to "Dumb
Hollow Twang Deluxe" on the way home from work today. It sure makes the drive
go quick...

Count me in! The Bambi's are great - when I think of JM tone, I think of
them. Some really fantastic stuff, here! Check out the "original" Dumb
Loud Hollow Twang and compare it to the re-release (DLHT Deluxe) - both
great releases, but different. The DVD is superb, as well!
As Jacob mentioned, Dave at www.zptdudamusic.com has some of the releases -
and the DVD (I highly recommend it!).
Phil can probably add some more details about them, too . . .

Three great albums, and some demos and comp tracks exist as well. I had
the distinct pleasure of mixing album number one (Dumb Loud Hollow
Twang) for this fine Croatian band. The curent band that writes a lot
like them is the Bananas (Slovenia).

The Bambi Molesters, I dare say, are much beloved by the list members
here. In fact, Dalibor used to be a list member in the long, long ago.
We have spent quite a bit talking about them in the past.
Since it doesn't look like they will make it to the US anytime soon, I
really hope they put out a live performance DVD. They do have a
interview/documentary DVD in Croatian (Ivan did you ever watch this?).
But it only leaves you wanting to see them play live SO badly. The
interview DVD just shows tantalizing snippets of live performances.
I was also concerned that they were defunct since they seemed to be
lying low (they were doing a side project with that REM side-man). But
I happily see their website has been updated fairly recently and they
did some dates this summer. Hopefully we will hear more from them soon.

I have not heard The Bananas, but Tubestone (Slovenia) sure has a
touch of the Bambi's in them to my ears. I will definitely check out
The Bananas, though. Thanks.

The side project wasn't with the REM sideman. It was with Chris Eckman
of the Seattle Grunge band The Walkabouts. I own it and I enjoy it a
lot. If Ice and Pinewood Trees from Sonic Bullets is your cup of tea I
suggest this album.
