If I'm not mistaken, that foam was used to cushion the reverb pan
when you lock it in place. I haven't taken mine apart (to that
extent) to see if there is only one or more pieces of foam cushioning
the pan . . . try pushing your reverb pan inwards towards
the "locked" position - you should feel some spongy feedback (no pun
intended). On mine, it seems like the cushion is at the top of the
pan (I can't feel it on the bottom, but there is some type of cushion
in there).
