Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: Slackercaster Geetar Finished

dave wronski (stickmandw) - 14 Sep 2005 07:40:13

I've seen a picture of his guitar you refer to, and it
looks like a converted Strat, with a 25.5" scale. I
think he played a normal Strat when we played with
them. I really liked the Surfcoasters, the whole band
is great, and are real crowd pleasers!
I started this guitar almost three years ago. 22
months ago, I had the second neck's construction begin
because the first neck was a 15" rather than a 7.25"
radius, and the shape was not like my '63 which was
the shape to be copied. The final neck is really nice,
with a very nicely figured rosewood board. Madagascar
rosewood, I think. I didn't want any tint in the paint
on the neck. It's interesting to have the 17th
fret-"A" position, a little easier to get to, and the
extra fret is cool, too. Gotta have for "Slanky",
among others. That trem lock for d-tuning is a must in
my world now. It's got locking Gotoh Vintage keys
which I'm still trying to figure out if they will be
OK with flatwounds.
