here is a post from cowabunga from Paul,
in reply to Jamie question if they were ok.
We're okay. The fire came way too close to Bob Bitchin's house, the rest of us
are a safe distance away. Seems like the fire is out now. Some of our friends
lost their homes, but all in all it could have been WAY worse. Our thoughts are
with our SoCal buddies, stay safe down there!

Thanks for the concern Danny. It was scary.
Me & my wife Erin were driving back from the coast Sunday morning when we got a call from Paul around Cordelia Junction. He was asking how long before we could get home, of which I thought was strange. Then he proceeds to tell me there's a fire near the airport & its quickly moving in the direction of our house! We could see the tower of smoke on the horizon all the way from Vacaville. Needless to say, it was the longest drive home ever...
Upon arriving home, and getting a better idea of what direction the winds were blowing the fire, we found that we were in no immediate danger, but we were under a mandatory evacuation order. There had been a Sheriff deputy arrive earlier to tell our neighbors that they all needed to leave.
It's pretty scary when CDF bombers are flying right over your house (including a DC-10) and all your neighbors are either gone already or have cars packed and ready to leave at any notice.
We were definately lucky. Unfortunatley, there were over 60 houses & multiple businesses lost in such a short amount of time.

It's good to know that The Pyronauts came through "the 49er fire" safe and sound. Many did not.
Thoughts and prayers go out to those who were not so lucky. Wow... how do you start over after finding your home in ashes?
Living in tree country has it's beauty, but the potential for disaster like this is always there.

The Pyronauts will be performing at the 49 Fire Benefit Concert on Saturday September 26th. We will take the stage around 7pm. All profits from merch sales will be donated to the cause.
