Permalink Unknown Eleki record

New Topic

I found this strange eleki LP some years ago in a record fair. It´s a 1968 Spanish issue on the budget label Dim Records. I think the tracks are traditional Japanese songs in a greatly reverbed surfy eleki style, one of those (Kiso Bushi) was also covered in a slighty different mood by Takeshi Teraushi & The Blue Jeans.

I'd be highly thankful whether any eleki conoisseur here knows something about the band behind this record and could tell me something about that. It´s a big mystery for me!

Thanks in advance

Sorry for the late response - several of those songs besides "Kiso Bushi" have been done by Terauchi Takeshi. My guess is the LP in question is a collection of his material. "Yagi Bushi," "Kiso Bushi," "Yosakoi Bushi," "Soran Bushi," "Saitaro Bushi," and "Aizu Bandaisan" can all be found on this album, Let's Go Eleki Bushi:

I wonder if they're the same versions.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I think he also covered "My Bushi Lies Over The Ocean," "Baby Got Bushi" & "My Bushi Brings All The Boys To The Yard."

Not to mention "Cum On Feel The Bushi," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Bushi," "Don't Go Breakin' My Bushi" (with Kiki Dee) & "Careful With That Bushi, Eugene."

Eps! I forgot this topic time ago. Thanks Captain!

I also had the Blue Jeans LP you had posted (or at least one with the same cover, mine is a gatefold 1971 japanese King Deluxe reissue, I think), but it don´t contains the songs you had listed (only the above mentioned Kiko Bushi)

I think that this is not a Takeshi Terauchi compilation. The group that recorded this mysterious LP sounds very different to me. They still are very eleki indeed, but with a more reverbed "surfy" sound.

Hmmm ... at the time of the post I had Let's Go Eleki Bushi on CD and that was the tracklist. Since then I picked up the original LP and it had the same songs. Maybe the songs on the mystery LP have those titles but are really different songs? It's hard to say.

Those gatefold reissues are really nice - I've been keeping an eye open for those versions of a few Terry LPs I have the basic versions of.

Yes, these early seventies reissues are very nice, but I can´t read the song titles to compare it with your original first edition. It´s all in japanese! Confused

Thanks a lot anyway sir.
