Decided to try these 10-49 with wound G (thanks, Ivan!) and they seem to be perfect.
Still use 11-48 on Jazzmaster (and on my Gretsches) and 12-52 flats on Jaguar.

I've pretty much permanently settled on Ernie Ball Burly Slinky for my surf Strats (Fender and G&L). 11-52 (11, 14, 18, 30, 42, 52). Basically 11s up high and 12's down low. Great balance for me.

on both my '62 AVRI strat & '64 jazzmaster; ernie ball regular slinky nickel wound 10-48. tried the BURLY 11-52 set for a few months but went back to the regular slinky set...

THE SEA-JAYS

JM 11-48
Jag 12-52
Gretsch 11-52

solder the winds at the trem end
Use d’Dario as they are the cheapest and I’ve never found any major difference going to higher cost strings.

Jazzmasters - D'Addario NYXL 10-46 (no soldering)
Most other electric guitars - Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (10-46)
Surfcaster of Doom - Ernie Ball Ultra Slinky (10-48)
Rick 330/12 - Stringjoy custom set (10/10, 13/13, 20w/10, 26w/13, 36/20, 46/26)
Baritone (B to B) - Stringjoy Baritone Medium (14-64)
Bass VI (E to E) - Stringjoy Bass VI Balanced Heavy (26-95)
Regular bass - D'Addario Half Rounds Regular Light (45-100)
Acoustic - Ernie Ball Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Light (11-52)
Mandolin - Ernie Ball 80/20 Bronze 10-34
Mandocello - Stringjoy custom set (16/16, 24w/24w, 40/20w, 62/32)

That's about everything I can think of! Looking back over the list, it's no wonder I have a whole box of spare strings Smile
