Ya know...when you haven't listened to Laika in awhile, it's simply mind-blowing what an impact it makes! Just unreal! Worship

That is an awesome cd,
I need to break it out again.

tuck's favorite.......'bullwinkle, pt.2' by the centurions. great somewhat minimalist tunes that sound great playing in my surf shop.

Just finished listening to Surfin' Wild by Jim Waller & The Deltas. Very sax and organ driven which I don't always go for in surf but I think it's great on this album.

The Complete Ritchie Valens.

Yeah, that guy. Worship

Of course there are sensational vocal songs like Come On Let's Go, La Bamba, Hurry Up and many more here... but I was tipped off to some of his excellent instrumentals which is what really caused me to buy this great compilation made available by Jasmine in the last couple of years (2010.) BTW - Jasmine also recently did a real nice re-release of Santo & Johnny's first two albums on one CD. Also must haves, IMO.

Enjoy these 2 appetite wet'ers, and go buy the comp. Better on the guitar than I think most realize or give him credit for Yes

Ha, I've been listening to both a boatload of El Ray and the new Rush album lately (got a digital copy from a Rush maniac I know last Wednesday - the official release date is today, though I think Spotify has had it for streaming since Friday or something). The new Rush is very good. The whole album isn't as strong as the first three songs that they released off it, but it's still their best work in probably at least 25 years, which is pretty cool.

Now listening to:

I've been curious about this stuff for years, and finally pulled the trigger. Just amazing. Albatross is overwhelmingly beautiful. The original Black Magic Woman and Green Manalishi are cool beyond words, as is Oh Well, especially when it goes into the spaghetti western second part. What diverse songwriting! The rest of the album is blues, and though I'm not much of a blues fan, this is really great stuff. Excellent playing, excellent songs. Green's tone is to die for, too. Again, I'm in general not much a fan of the sound of Les Pauls (with a few exceptions), but damn, did he make his sound incredible! Love this.

i love the very early fleetwood mac

www.surfintheeye.com

The original Fleetwood Mac was an incredible band, especially when they began stretching out beyond blues. Peter Green (from this era) was as good as any musician that I've ever heard in any genre. The rest of the band was excellent, too. Like wondering what Hendrix or Duane Allman would've gone on to do, had they not died, I wonder about what Peter Green would've accomplished, had he not gotten derailed by mental illness, drugs and religion. He's been musically active in recent years, but is a shell of his former self. Sad case!

Bob

i saw fleetwood mac right after 'bare trees' was released and christine mcvee had just joined the band. they played a lot of older blues stuff mixed with the new release.
