The videos are GREAT !!!
Of course I'm very interested in Bradipos IV + Pipelines. I put together the first night remembering the good times! We played together several times, like 10 years ago, and we packed the venues! It's a shame I'm not in Italy anymore to play with the Pipelines. I post this old photo...

Hey all!

I'm finally getting around to posting some Surfer Joe photos. I'll post some more photos from the Madeira tour in a separate thread. Hope you enjoy these!

image

Me, Marisol (Los Twang! Marvels), the one-and-only Unsteady Freddie, Boris & Alex of Los Twang! Marvels. This photo was taken at Niki's parents' house (Niki being Lorenzo's wife and the bass player for the Wadadli Riders) on the way to the first night of the festival.

image

The Calafuria restaurant, right above the two stages of the festival. From the left: Vincent and Wannes (AKA WR) of the Mono-Tones from Holland, me, and Alex and Boris of Los Twang! Marvels.

image

The Pipelines, headlining the first night, with Lorenzo on vocals - these guys blew me away with their very soulful Beach Boys covers.

image

The crowd during the Pipelines set!!!! The place was completely packed. Many kids showed up for the dancing which followed the Pipelines, but it was still very impressive.

image

The second day: Ferenc, Wannes (WR) and me, representing SG101!

image

The Wadadli Riders with Lorenzo on lead guitar and Niki on bass.

image

Me with a fraction of the German contingent: Sven Sebastian of the King Kongs, wife of Ehrie of the German Surf Music Forum, and Alex.

image

Lorenzo playing some incredible super-trad surf drums! Niki on bass and (off the photo) our own Rev. Hank playing an explosive impromptu set!

image

Los Twang! Marvels providing me with one of the most incredible musical experiences of my life.

image

Ralf & Tom of the Kilaueas rocking out next to their smoke-bellowing mini-volcano!

image

Pollo del Mar captured in a dynamic moment - around 3:30 am!!!!

Day 3: Dane and Todd finally arrive, to our great relief, after their scheduled flight the day before was canceled. We have lunch with Los Twang! Marvels and the Kilaueas. From the left: Alex (LTM), Todd, Marisol (LTM), Dane, the new lead guitarist of the Kilaueas (whose name I can't remember at the moment), Tom (bass player for both the Kilaueas and more recently LTM), Boris (LTM), Ralf (the Kilaueas), Patrick. That was a fun lunch!

The venue, Calafuria, as seen from the cliffs below, by the waterfront. Les Arondes (France) are playing.

It can't really compare to Jake's legendary photo, but here's my Strat the morning after we headlined the third nights of the fest - blood-splattered! I got a bit too energetic and enthusiastic and ripped the skin off of both my thumb and my forefinger. Fortunately, that was the only blood-letting (at least on my part) of the tour.

That looks like a good time! I have a feeling there is a lot loss snobbery in the European surf music scene.

Also, major kudos on the blood splattered strat!

Great pics Ivan! Thanks for posting. The blood splattered strat has got to make it to POTD status. Frankly, at the intensity you play at, I'm surprised its not a more common occurance Laughing

I'm still working on resizing mine for the 'net. They are either too big, or poor res. How do I size down my pics, so they aren't huge? (on a mac)

Hey Ivan great photos!!!! I saved them all already.
The photo from the rocks is a very good and different angle of Calafuria, I love it.

My photos are on Flickr (www.surferjoemusic.com/gallery) and in slideshow on www.surferjoemusic.com

There are a lot of them I posted them all, some are very very good!

Just upload them here and it will do everything for you.

Also you can download an upload manager from them that allows you more option and more slots to upload in.

If you have it happen to you once, you never want it to happen again. I changed out my picks after I bled the one time. An entire set of strings rubbings again an open wound... no thanks! Now, I normally take off the callus on my right index finger at gigs. No blood.

Great photos, Rev! It was really nice to meet you, too, and what a kick-ass set you played! With no practice, even! Wow! Here's the audience while you played:

Thanks for the nice words, Brian, Ryan, Danny, Jake, and everyone else. Glad you liked the photos. (Danny, I also wish you could have been at that table with us!!)

Again, I'm quite late on this, but I haven't actually been home very long. However, I did want to completely second Ferenc's statement from a few weeks ago:

PolloGuitar
Much praise to you Lorenzo, for pulling together such a huge event. You have a businessman's mind and a musician's heart. I watched you manage our tour while driving nine hours a day and organizing the festival using 2 cell phones, laptop, all at the same time. I saw you play drums, guitar and sing lead vocals on 3 hours of sleep while dealing with bands, vendors and cranky restaurant owners. And the joy you brought to surf fans, who had traveled from all over the world was huge, not to mention the bands who were treated more than fairly. Did I mention that the Festival was free?
Many thanks to you, Nikki, Lucca, Valeria and the entire Surfer Joe team for an exceptionally well done event!

Ferenc said it all (almost - he forgot that at the same time Lorenzo was also coordinating with the builders of his house in Antiqua AND continuing to handle his business there, too!), and it's 100% the truth. THANK YOU, LORENZO!!! You really are the best!!! (And an amazing talent, with vocals, guitar and drums! A true musical triple threat!!)
