Does anybody use the Ikey Plus for recording your band?

http://www.ikey-audio.com/ikeyplus.htm

It records 2-channel .wav or .mp3 files to a USB flash drive or iPod. Cool.

at $149, I'm considering getting one to replace my dying Minidisc recorder.
(Besides, a flash drive will transfer files to my editing program much faster than the painful 1X of Minidisc, DAT or tape!!)

Any thoughts?

Rick, I'm not familiar with that device, but I'm starting to look at them in general. RobbieReverb bought one recently and has recorded some shows with it. Results were fair, but I'm sure Bob is at the beginning of the learning curve. I'd like to hear more about these as well - anyone out there use one for recording band practices?

I bought a Samson/Zoom H-2 Flash recorder for $199.00,
and am very happy with it. I'm just getting started with it,
but it sure beats the crap out of the cassette recorder that
I had been using. I bought it strictly for my own amateur
use, not professional recordings, but it sounds pretty dang
good to me. It's got a zillion cool features, and it's not too
technical to use. With a 4GB flash card you can record about
5 hours of high grade stereo wav files, or "days" of MP3 files.
I could not be any happier with this great little tool.

I've gotten what I consider very good quality recordings of
the Pasta Del Mar, and the Meshugga Beach Party shows
at the Hotel Utah; and of the Mermen at Don Quixote's in
Felton. I'm less happy with the sound quality of the Davie
Allan show at Moe's Alley, mainly because I was in the
middle of the crowd, and it picked up a lot of crowd noise.
(Please don't ask for copies of the recordings unless you're
in one of the bands involved in these shows. I've promised
not to distribute them. If you're in the bands and would like
a copy of your show, I'll be happy to get a copy to you. Just
PM me). Ferenc got a couple recordings from me. Ferenc,
maybe you'd like to chime in on the quality of the sound?

You can check out the H2 at Samsontech.com.

I use an IKEY to record my band, The InSINerators, all the time.
It works real well if you can master the input wheel on the side.
In fact, the two better recordings on my myspace page are recorded
with an IKEY. (myspac.com/theinsinerators) It is easy to hook up
right out of the Mackie board. It only hooks up via RCA style jack.
I have also beat the crap out of mine hauling it in the side pocket
of my gig bag and it still works like a charm. I would suggest getting
a large flash drive a least 1 gig. Oh yea. Mine is a couple of years old.

We use a Zoom H-4 and have been happy w/it

This thread has got me interested in these little gadgets. I just ordered a Zoom H2 and paid extra for 2 day shipping. I hope to use at our gig this weekend.

I'll let you know.

Ben,
please post your gig info sir.....
I am not a mind reader.
