couple of comments in response to some of the posts
I know that whammy bar ain't reaaly surf, or necessarily attributable to any specific music genre
I just love the way it looks, clean, sleek, nice color tones
so I dropped some text on it.....voila
this venue is a restaurant style place; food is damn good too
I do not have any say in the pricing; if you scroll thru their site you'll prices set in this range pretty much throughout
this is a SUNDAY before New Years Eve....they thought they'd give me a shot on a Sunday night which is generally their slowest night but b/c it is so close to New Years Eve they are anticipating a pretty good turnout (a lot of people are corresponding with me in MySpace and claim they are coming)
I have been attending shows there a long time, and totally dig the feel of the place
we kicked around a theme for the night
they know I am a surf music freak....that's a given
so I added a major EastCoast rockabilly band, The Lustre Kings, to round things out
I have found that surf and rockabilly (and garage, too) work well together
in fact, folks like us can sit thru, dance thru 5, 6, 7 surf bands in a row, right? yeah no problem!!
my SURF-ROCK SHINDIGs are 4 instro bands, once a month, and we have been filling the place to the max...it's working quite well
but in Pawling NY, which is off the beaten path somewhat, the club booker and I felt one surf band was enough

so, the 'twang' in a sense is fitting for both surf, and rockabilly, kind of, no?
anyway, the bottom line is the club is happy and are willing to give me this shot
hope people in the surrounding area will swing by, weather permitting (always a factor around these parts in late December, right thru early March)
and yes The 9th Wave are a great surf band from Connecticut
