Permalink A project finally finished - Early Surfybear Tremolo pedal completed!

Years ago, when Bjorn only offered kits for his Surfy Reverb and Surfy Trem, I bought several kits. I think the second kit I built was a reverb in a a harbor freight box and a tremolo pedal kit. I needed to use them in short order, so I built it without too much care for the look.

I built an all in one reverb/tremolo cabinet right after - you can search for it if you want - it's pretty slick.

Well, I have a thing I'm doing where I don't want to carry the reverb/trem tank with me, I just need the trem. So I finally decided I needed to finish the tremolo pedal properly, or at least better. So I tore it apart and put it thru the Texas Toast Paint machine. I made lettering for it, but I forgot about knobs size so everything is crowded. I only realized it when I went to put them on and had to had several corrections. But I think I like it and it looks 1000% better than it did with the sharpie lettering. It still has some vintage silverface Showman knobs on it and they add 10-15% better tone.

It still sounds great and I'm looking forward to using it. I hope I hear "you play guitar like a Tarantino film sounds" once again.

Chris, a big improvement, looks great! Does Texas Toast do any of their own pedals or just guitars?

Patrick

The original homemade Surfy Bear reverbs were pretty creative. Mine is also in a red Harbor Freight toolbox, but other people had their own ideas.
