Permalink Great way to figure out if you need fretwork

I figured out a great way to determine if your guitar needs the frets leveled and crowned: Just put on a set of flatwound strings! You can also determine this with half-rounds.

I'm annoyed at myself for letting a couple of guitars get as bad as they've gotten, fretwise ... but also kind of impressed because neither one of them is that old and apparently I've been playing the snot out of them!
