Permalink SOLD: 2023 Collection Made in Japan Traditional ‘60s Jazzmaster

New Topic

SOLD

There’s nothing quite like a Jazzmaster, whether you’re playing rock, country, surf, shoegaze, Americana, metal or—crazy enough—jazz. Offset guitars are all the rage these days, so here’s your opportunity to get a like-new Jazzmaster with some great specs and features, and one that’s hard to get in the USA to boot!

This 7.7-pound Jazzmaster was made to mostly mid-1960s specs in 2023 by Fender’s most excellent Japanese factory. I say “mostly mid-1960s specs” because unlike a true vintage Jazzy, this one has a 9.5” fretboard radius! How great is that? (It’s really great. Trust me!) It is effectively an extension of the popular MIJ “Traditional II” line.

The solid basswood body is smoothly encased in the most beautiful glossy Olympic White paint, set off smartly on the front with a trifecta of Blue competition stripes. And it simply wouldn’t be an awesome Jazzmaster without the matching Olympic White head cap! The neck is traditional ’60s: 25.5” scale length, maple neck, rosewood fretboard (remember that 9.5” radius) and a smooth, comfortable U-shaped carve. The 21 vintage-height frets are clean and smooth, with no apparent wear and definitely no gouges, divots or sharp ends. The vintage-style tuners work perfectly and the guitar stays in tune well, even with moderately aggressive trem-arm use.

The hardware is 100% functional, including the traditional Fender offset tremolo system, a Mustang bridge (the original is included) and vintage-style tuners. Electronics are stock, including the “Vintage-Style Single-Coil Jazzmaster” pickups, master tone and volume on the lead circuit, and master tone and volume on the rhythm circuit, easily accessed via a slider switch and thumbwheels on the upper bout. (A separate entire wiring harness with pickguard - which is for sale here as well - was installed for a while, but I've returned it to stock. The only wire disconnected & reconnected was the chassis ground wire.)

Even though this guitar originally sold with a Fender-branded gig bag, this sale includes a fitted Fender ABS hard case instead. The gig bag is not included with the sale.

No trades will be accepted. Cash price for SG101ers is $1350 with free delivery within 60 miles of Richmond, VA. Shipping, if needed, is additional and will cover box, padding and UPS fees.

For the sharp-eyed among you, photos of this guitar were previously used in a scam attempt. I exposed those shenanigans, as I bought the guitar from a friend and recognized the photos of it he sent me. I bought this guitar to use as a backup to my main Jazzmaster, and have recently decided I no longer need it. These are obviously new photos Smile

I've only posted 2 photos here; please visit the Reverb listing for more photos. That link is: https://reverb.com/item/84558796-fender-2023-collection-made-in-japan-traditional-60s-jazzmaster
