It looks like the website for North Sea Surf Radio is no longer working, which means that the excellent lists of top classic surf tracks are no longer available, except in a few old posts on this forum where those lists were copied and pasted. I did some digging and managed to find the lists of 101 classic tracks from the 2013-2016 polls and reproduced them here for posterity. These lists are such a great resource for new songs to enjoy and play.
The tracks are organized based on their first ranking from the 2013 poll, and if not ranked in 2013, then based on their first appearance in the results of subsequent years. The abbreviation “NR” means “not ranked” for the given year. Rankings for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 are indicated in the corresponding columns.
It’s too bad that we don’t have these polls anymore. I’ve been lurking on this forum for a while and I enjoyed being exposed to new songs through those lists and seeing the spirited discussions about the relative merits of different tracks and artists. If enough people on this site are interested, maybe I can try to organize a similar poll this December for the top 101 classic surf tracks. It might be interesting to see if tastes have changed in ten years.
