Permalink Surfybear and amplifier incompatibility

You're not driving the dwell too much are you? I don't know alot about sorting reverb, but I found when you're playing with quite a clean amp sound it really emphasises when you're overdriving the reverb signal (not a pleasant sound in the first place nevermind when the amp isn't clipping to mask it a little! I noticed something similar with my SB compact lab series amp, but never with my mesa ta15.

@Brky87
Have definitely noticed what you are talking about but i chalk it down to power, my solid state Squire practice amp is 15w not too powerful but my tube amps are 5 and 6w. my Surfy bear is great with the solid state less great with my low wattage tube amp.

The blonde showman is a 80watt tube amp and that is arguably the definitive surf sound when paired with a reverb unit.

If you're near Cambridge, come visit - I'll show you my master plan for an 8W Showman. Very Happy

My Surfybear Metal in blue arrived yesterday just minutes before I left for my weekly Tuesday gig. It got it's first use at the gig. I love it. Oh my, what a wonderful sound coming from my Excelsior Pro. I think it might sound better that the RI Fender tank I sold last year. I've been "faking" it with a TC Electronics Hall of Fame for a few years. My Jaguar with flats sounded more drippy than my Telcaster with .10 round wounds.

YES. Joint based Pawn Shop product, tied with the Vaporizer. Very Happy
