Brian,
Has something changed about the way donations are made?

I tried three times to make a donation but keep getting a notice that
"Donations to this recipient aren't supported in this country"
(the country referred to is NZ)

I tried both Paypal and credit card, neither worked.

I've had no problems in the past.

thanks.

Hi -

I am not aware of anything changing but Paypal is known to do weird things or have bugs periodically. I would say wait a few days and try again.

I did find this on Wikipedia's donation page:

PayPal can occasionally give an error saying we do not process donations in a given country. However, you may be receiving this message because PayPal needs some additional personal identification information from you. Please contact their customer service department and inquire further. This is especially common in some parts of Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Another option is to donate using Patreon.

Okay thanks, although there isn't a problem donating to other websites.

As a test I made a small donation to archive.org using Paypal and it went through no problem.

I then tried donating again to here and wasn't able to (same notice as before). So there is something strange going on, but I'll wait for a few days as per your suggestion, and try again.

It's quite possible Paypal changed something on their end and I need to update the button code. Let's see if more people report problems and wait a week or so. Thanks for trying!!

I just made a donation which issued a receipt email so I assume it went through. However, the "success" page after processing came up blank.

Thank you for the donation! I suspect the problem is with non-US addresses but we'll see.

It's just worked for me from the UK.

Alan

No issues from the Netherlands.

I'm starting to thing this issue report is just a scheme to get more people to make donations Big Grin

Surfin’ Europe – Surf gigs in Europe
The Malbehavers – Instrumental Surf Music from Tilburg (NL)
Tout Tilburg Surft – Malbehavers’ debut EP

Thanks for the donations!! I don't know what to tell you, I changed nothing on my end and I'm sure twang10 hasn't made any either. Paypal has a habit of randomly breaking or changing things.

Such a great outpouring of donations for the site. Great to see!

Patrick

So my scheme is working Big Grin

I tried donating again but still no luck.

I did a search on the paypal community archives and this exact problem has occurred tn the past, numerous times.

There was no response and therefore no solution from Paypal..

Suggestions from the community that were successful include:

use the recipient's email address to send the money
send the money to the recipient's paypal address
the recipient added their paypal.me account to the button code

I'm determined to make a donation in spite of Paypal's opposition.

If it's okay with you Brian, I'll try sending the money to your email address

Could you PM with the address to use.

Thanks
Archie
