Permalink Southern Surf StompFest 2023!

New Topic
Goto Page: 1 2 Next

Many warm greetings, friends! I've certainly been quiet a while, but in my quiet time I took up planning The Southern Surf StompFest along with fellow Mystery Man Richard, Surf King Bob, and James TikiHut Honeycutt. We had some delays establishing our new location (BLOCKS away from the previous location for those familiar), but it's looking like it'll be well worth the wait! Hope to see some familiar AND new faces! Also looking to get back chatting on this site. It's too good a community!!

Would LOVE to have you of course!

YES! Trader Vic's the night before. Ironing out some final details on that front, but I sure won't shut up about it when we do. Smile

Hoping to make it down this year, camera in hand.

Congrats on the great lineup, and the new venue, Jamie! As much as I wanna be there, I'm doubtful that I can make it, this year. Had a blast in 2019 (?) with the Insects, the Madeira, Surfer Joe, and so many other great bands.

That would rule so hard! It's been a while and I sure would love to see you.

Bring a band some time, eh!? Wink

Totally understand! I hate like HELL that I'm missing SG101 AND Surfer Joe, but that's the reality of life sometimes. Hopefully gonna make it up a little bit with StompFest! We'll always look forward to a Robbie Reverb Return!

Looks like a neat little spot. Can't promise anything, but I'll try!

Hey, guys. I want to chime in here to say thanks, and thanks to Jamie and my other cohorts at Stompfest for taking up all the slack I left in planning this year when my job (and my life...) changed. Our old venue, Little Tree, was still very much into having us but the situation with the businesses across the street changed. We were thinking about moving the event further away, but the owner of Little Tree helped get us in touch with the right people to get us use of the new Town Green, which you see pictured above. Hope to see some of you there.

Hmmm... about 550 miles from home, but only 150 miles from the office ... I smell a "work from the office week" coming up near the end of September!

Hi Mike, It will be great to see you again this year! It's been a while. I've talked my wife into attending both the Trader Vic pre-party and the StompFest this year. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody and checking out the new location. It looks great.

Couple of good looking blondes hanging out by the side of the stage. I think they're Eddie Katchers groupies!

Total Death Mechanics. Hadn't heard them before. Really enjoyed their set.

A massive thank you to Jamie, Chad, Richard, Ed and anyone else involved with putting on the show.
Thank you to Jet Powers for handling emcee duties and showing off his extensive surf shirt collection (you've got quite the laundry load today).
And especially a huge thank you to all the bands that played.

I think having the fest a little later in the month worked out really well as it was not as brutally hot as the beginning of the month. The new venue worked out well other than not having much in the way of stage lighting once it got dark. (Which is why I didn't get pictures of El Capitan and the Intoxicators).

Looking forward to next year!

Nice photos! Thanks for taking and sharing ‘em. The park & stage look even better than the promo shot and that looked amazing. I need to get down there one of these day. We’ve had a gig the same day every year for I don’t know how many in a row now, this past Saturday included. Boooo. I mean, yay for gigs (we still only play out about 5-6 times a year), but Boooo - hate I keep missing the Stomp Fest.
