From the beaches of Tilburg come the wild surf guitars of The Malbehavers (NL). Instrumental surf music from the days when ponytails were still worn high on the head, swimming trunks were still fitting tight around the scrotum, and when you could still shamelessly shake your hips on the dance floor.

Baríton Loco (BE) brings back the rawness and finesse from the instrumentals of the ’50s and ’60s and they don’t try to hide their history in heavier music genres. Think of the sound of Link Wray, the attitude of The Cramps and the class of Mancini. Founded at the home of the Declercq family in 2019, this surf rock quartet released a short devilish EP in 2021 that captivates their live energy on vinyl. What you can expect from “Down Below” is: mean twangy guitars, a piercing bass six, raw driving drums and a nice cup of fuzz mixed in. Not for the faint of heart!

The Wave Chargers (FR) have been involved in the Parisian underground scene since 2015, giving a fashionable spin to authentic surf music. The dexterity of their guitar-playing and their wild live shows, often including a skilled go-go dancer, have brought them to notorious stages, opening for artists including The Flamin’ Groovies, The 5.6.7.8’s or King Khan & the Shrines.
These four rock n’ rollers have also showcased their powerful and sexy surf music throughout Europe, at festivals such as Hipsville (UK), Surf‑O‑Rama (Spain), or Surfer Joe Summer Festival (Italy). But never before in the Netherlands. The Wave Chargers will therefore have their Dutch debut on the Sunburn Surf Fest stage, where they'll be joined by The Krontjong Devils (NL), Baríton Loco (BE) and The Malbehavers (NL). Back to being a quintet, The Krontjong Devils (NL) really need no introduction. These guys have been producing marvellous instrumental surf music over the last three decades, straight from 'Groningen Surf City'… and the stars even. Always following the recipe: sun, sea, Southern California and Dick Dale.
Their 1994 debut “Moovin’ with the Krontjong Devils” has become a collector’s item. Last year saw the release of “Music From The Stars, Volume 1 (a journey through space and time)”, full of proven 70s/80s hits as instrumental surf tunes. And earlier this year they released the EP “Los Krontjong Devils Tocan Surf Súper Seco”. The Krontjong Devils will play their super dry surf tunes at Sunburn Surf Fest, where they'll be joined by The Wave Chargers (FR), Baríton Loco (BE) and The Malbehavers (NL).
