Hi guys,

I've got a bunch of guitars, but none with a trem bar. I'm now looking at the Legacy or the Doheny (the Tribute models). Which one would you prefer for modern surf with a little bit of dirt, not squeaky clean? I might be replacing the pickups, should I feel the need.

IMO, the Doheny is one beautiful design. I’m also fascinated by the Comanche, which has a similar body shape to a Legacy, but different pickups and switching options.

I have no experience with Dohney, but Legacy moved aside all of my Fender strats for some period. It was my friend’s guitar, but I still think of getting one. Exactly what you’ve described, modern, tight tone, great with overdrive, but still stratish.

Casually browsing Doheny tribute models for sale online I noticed several with the fretboard not properly centered under the strings. On a couple of guitars the high e-string was at the edge of the fretboard at the highest frets, and on one guitar the low e-string was at the fretboard edge.
