Ok, I was so enchanted with it so decided to go for it.
rm: a silicon reinterpretation of the ’60s classic germanium, Rangemaster-inspired treble booster using a unique setup with 2 low gain silicon transistors. I am new to treble boosters so cannot say anything about it, it’s pretty unusable with clean amp but seems to be nice with overdriven or on the edge of
ep: a colored JFET preamp – gain stage voiced after the preamp circuit of the Echoplex, operating at 24V DC via an internal voltage boost. EP booster is pretty the same as I remember my Xotic EP, nice soft coloring
ma: based on a clean and “transparent” volume booster of the late ’70s / early ’80s (read: MXR Micro Amp-style)- love this boost, a little hotter and more transparent
mf: based on a late ’90s ultra-transparent, high input impedance MOSFET boost of the ZVex Super Hard On pedal, famous for its pristine highs - this one is a little modern sounding for my taste but I think may work ok as a solo boost in live situation
Generally a great pedal when you want to try different boosts or need different types in different situations. As usual for Crazy Tube Circuits it’s well made and beautiful sounding, I’ve tried several of their pedals and all of them were great for some vintage stuff like surf, rockabilly or roots rock.
