Sounds good!! Big Grin

Nice set up. I don't really think it matters what gear is used if it makes you happy. When I started playing surf in 95 I came from the metal world and did not have the classics to play through. On USK's early gigs I played a Lado Hawk strat style guitar (HSS, Kahler locking nut trem) through a Boss Digital Delay pedal (for a "reverb" type effect), and into a Roland JC 120, or Peavy 5150 half stack. We had fun and people enjoyed the shows.

My gear is more traditional now, but I am happy to play whatever is available.

If it works it works.
If it sounds good it is good.

Some of those SuperStrats are excellent guitars. If you turn the volume controls on the guitar down a bit, while hot humbuckers will never sound exactly like a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster, but there are some good sounds available from such guitars. I am anything but a Heavy Metal player, and I rarely use even light overdrive, but I have learned to respect these instruments. Likewise, while I love the clean Surf sound of the ‘60s, there’s room for other sounds. If you ever have the chance to hear Paul Johnson and the Packards album, entitled High Energy, you’ll hear some Surf tunes with a much different sound. Some tracks remind me of the sound of the Allman Brothers, but it works, and works well.

The Supro 1600 Supreme is a very good amp. It has a good clean tone if it's not pushed too hard, and the dirty tone is great too. Lots of flexibility with the second cascaded gain channel. I admit I just sold mine, but only because I have way, way too many amps and something had to go. So some of my recent-issue amps just lost out to my vintage amps.

The great steel player Jerry Byrd once stated something very close to, "If you can play, the gear doesn't matter. If you can't play, the gear doesn't matter." Good music can be played by someone who can really play on practically any gear. OK, there are probably some exceptions, but I think that is largely true, especially considering how much great gear for reasonable money is out there these days. Guitar players never had it so good. Conversely, at guitar shows, I've heard people really stink it up on a real '59 Les Paul sunburst or a pre-CBS Strat, as if just having a great guitar gave them the ability to play.

I'm currently very satisfied with using a 1980's era Roland JC-120 combo plus a few pedals.... Mainly a compressor with built-in treble boost, into a Greer Amps Soma '63 with the gain set to where the sound just starts to bloom (still 99% clean), and then into a Fender Tre-Verb with '63 reverb selected and the tremolo usually set to harmonic.
