Permalink Black Sand Beach (cover) live - trying to bring back surf music to town

“Hey, MGM Casino will close its doors for 3 days!”
“Lusofonia in Taipa (Portuguese speaking countries carnival) has just been stopped by the government! What about you guys?”
“Hey, they are packing up at the legal department's Law Promotion Event right outside, are you still playing?”

We started at around 230pm. The above messages flocked to my phone starting from 2pm on.

On Oct 30, at around 235pm, I asked the event boss plus the organizer of the St. Lazarus Trick or Treat, “Did anyone from the government call and said we had to cancel our show and the fundraising event?” The big boss said he had not heard a thing yet. So off we went, and we started as planned.

So why were all other events being cancelled, and possibly ours? What else...you think Mars attacked? hahaha...we had a Covid outbreak. Oh brother...

So folks, may we present to you "Black Sand Beach" (cover).... And, believe it or not, in a few days, we will be gigging at the real Black Sand Beach (called Hac Sa Beach). Yes, our summer concert has been postponed twice, and this coming Sunday, we will be playing on stage, bringing back surf rock to the city hopefully.

Hope you all have enjoyed our performance with The Cotton Kids full band. Of course we always play with a smile. ;-)))

Cheers!

Ray Wink

Great job!! I really enjoyed it! Cool little portable amps as well.

Thank you...the Cube Street EX amps are much louder than they look. Each has 4 channels and they could go AC instead of DC too...they are a bit pricey but good for small gigs in remote venues like ours; the usual Fender Passport 500 (really LOUD) wasn't working...and the Hartke 100 Watts bass amp and the Marshall amp were too heavy. We didn't want to shell out extra money and have no sponsor this time as it was for charity, so we brought what we could. Wink I can't believe we brought our own mixer too. The ladies wanted to use in-ears and we just had so many things to haul! oh brother. But, we had a great time and the audience loved it. i must say, no one plays surf rock at all in my city (even in our country), only us. Lots of the audience (ok, a bit older than me) were so happy cos they said it was the music they danced to when they were young in the 60s, before the invasion of the Beatles. I guess that's not only in this part of the world but worldwide.
