I'm for the first time joining a surf band.
The gear I have right now (except effects) for the purpose are...
Two guitars - one stratocaster and one "the Ventures"
Two amps (heads) - one Music Man HD 130 Reverb and one Traynor YGL-3A MK3
What kind of speaker cabinet should I look for?
2X12 or 2X15? open or closed back? and what speakers should i put in it?
Since I'm a beginner with this music I'm looking for something like "allround speakers" something that can't go wrong.

Just my opinion, but you'll come a far way with the music man. Very decent amps. 2x12 or 1x15 is fine.
Maybe you can get your hands on a second hand bandmaster vm cab and put some ev 12 l's in it. Sell the stock speakers. Killer rig. Don't forget the reverb
Cheers,
Andy

If I go for the 1X15", what speaker (speakers) would you recommend?

I have this 15” in an early 60s Fender Vibrasonic, and have been really happy with it.

What Rev said...
With the music man you have plenty of choices as it has an Ohms switch, no?
The Jensen c15k is also nice.
The Jensen neo 150 or 300, if you can get your hands on one of those. If you're a gigging musician, it makes your cab a lot more portable

Myself, I have the Jensen c15k in use, the Jensen neo 300 and the EV 15b.
With the last two you don't have to worry to play bass through them too. I forgot to mention the jbl's... The d130s, d140s and k140s. These might be very expensive these days.
Cheers again, Andy

You have two really awesome amps! Great reverb and tremolo on each of them.
If you want to go all the way, I say get yourself a 2x15 setup. It's totally overkill for anything other than cranked on a big stage but it kicks like nothing else.
Also, closed back cabs, always! Maximum punch.

I forgot to mention that I’m going to be playing the rythm guitar in the band. Do that change something in your advices?

Yes the Music Man has 4 and 8 Ohm switch but the Traynor only has 4 Ohms.
The C15N ia available in 4 ohms but it is only 50W. Could that work with the 100W Traynor? Or must I buy two 8 Ohm speakers?
