Permalink Jazzmaster rhythm circuit mod?

Hi! Been dreamin' of buying a Jazzmaster and American Professional II seems to be, after some arduous googling:), the best choice for me. The quality is high & there's a maple fretboard (I'm a maple fb guy...). I could even afford it, at least maybe. I have only one problem: the rhythm circuit has been "upgraded" into a series/parallel switch instead of the traditional separate neck pickup control. Now, I specifically dig the traditional rhythm circuit as I (sorry surfers!) intend to play JAZZ with it!:) Is it possible to mod or re-wire the rhythm circuit "back" to its vintage condition? I'm no electrician, but would it be possible for a luthier to accomplish that without too much trouble or running the risk of mutilating the instrument?

yes it could be done but you'd need a standard JM pick guard with the wheel pots that control the neck pickup in the rhythm circuit ..that would be easier than adapting what you have and buying all the bits seperately

Probably the easiest way would be to install a loaded pickguard, like this

yes, very easy to re-wire. i’m also jealous as I’d love to have one of those panorama tremolos to see if it’s drastically better.

i’d toss a set of pure vintage 65 pickups in there, too. but i haven’t actually played the vmod ones.
