Permalink SurfyVibe pedal ? or a Fulltone Deja Vibe pedal ?

I want to buy a vibe pedal and was wondering what Pedal would you guys buy? a SurfyVibe pedal? of a Fulltone Deja Vibe pedal? ThanX, Mahalo

The Surfy Vibe!

I have the Surfy Vibe and my dad has a Fulltone MDV-3 Deja Vibe, both are very cool pedals, but quite different in character.

Surfy Vibe has a more subtle surfy feel, as one would ascertain from the name, the shape of the vibrato sounds more even and it almost sounds like a subtle tremolo on some settings, it has a phasery setting too, but that really thins out the tone and isn't in-line with something we'd think of as surf music, or rock for that matter, but cool nonetheless.

The Deja Vibe is an excellent reproduction of a Univibe, so it's forte is rich swirly phasery tones that are more pronounced, seems like the vibrato aspect is a sharper change in pitch, sounds a bit more off-kilter. It's an awesome pedal too, but i wouldn't use it for surf. Think Robin Trower and Jimi Hendrix. It's a beautiful lush sounding pedal.

Both Pedals have the two settings: straight vibrato and a more phasey setting, the Surfy Vibe shines in the straight vibrato setting, the Deja Vibe excels in the phasery setting.

I assume that the Surfy Vibe will suit you perfectly since you're posting your question on a surf music forum.

Thanks SandBug !! that's a lot of good info there, Thank you. I want it for Surf and that Hendrix fell as well..sounds like you can't have it all in one pedal. I'll probably end up buying both eventually cause now I'm curious.. going to go SurfyVibe first. ThanX again

You're welcome, Lavabreath. Good plan. They're both great pedals for sure.

Also - the Fulltone guy is a total asshole. You're supporting a terrible person by buying any of his stuff. Glad you’re going with Surfyvibe!

I have the Fulltone Custom Shop Mini Deja Vibe, and it is perfect for the Trower thing. Find the right OD or Fuzz pedal to go with it (I use the Fulltone Robin Trower overdrive) and your Strat will sing.
I wouldn't have a problem using it for Surf, but I'm not a purist, and I only use reverb when I play surf.

Deal with reality, or reality will deal with you.

It's funny you mentioned a Strat.. I just bought a Les Paul Goldtop with Burstbucker PUs...I like it for certain types of Music...But I went back to my Strat. I'll probably buy the Deja Vibe too, ThanX, Mahalo

It doesn't matter to me how large a company is, if the owner is an asshole, I prefer not to give them my business. I have two Fulltone SupaTrem2 pedals I got before the news was out. I feel bad and good about using them, bad because it reminds me of assholes who blindly hate, but good because they work really well. Actually one works well, the other broke and I don't want to pay them to fix it, whatta predicament. I tried to find other stereo trems pedals but they all suck, even the $500 Effectrode one. If the other one breaks, I'm not getting another.

I feel the same way - with products or especially with artists/musicians.

Mike Fuller is a grade-A asshat far beyond those comments. He has long had a well-deserved reputation as a trash talking egomaniac. Do a search on him and you will find dozens of threads about him swearing at customers, dealers and other builders that predate his comments.

He also steals other builder’s circuits. I received an e-mail discount offer from Fulltone. I responded and asked them to remove me from their mailing list because they steal circuits. Mike personally responded with a lot of 4-letter words. He then told me he has made a lot of money. What a petty douche.
