Thanks John,
Love all the historical info about the tigers in commercials for cars n tires and gas. I vaguely remember that as a little kid.

On in 5 min

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I'm not ignoring current events and I'm not making light of the "news." I DID consider postponing this month's podcast (and maybe next month's as well), but I found solace in this anonymous quote: "The purpose of music is to release us from the tyranny of conscious thought." And so...

So, there's a new "Bad News" surf/hot-rod music podcast streaming this month on GTF Instrumental here ----> https://gtf.club/stream/instrumental/

Listen Tuesdays @ 4am, Thursdays @6pm, and Sundays @ 12N (all PST). The podcast is also available on SoundCloud here for 24/7 listening ---> https://soundcloud.com/user-542309562/john-blair-bad-news-10

This month, the entire podcast has a theme:

Great theme, and even greater music. Thanks for continuing to introduce me to some new bands and music. I'm guessing that together these--now 10-- podcasts comprise a compilation like no other (along with your commentary).

Many particular tracks by familiar artists this episodes I'd not heard, including Jim Messina, The Tornadoes, and Johnny Fortune. The Tornadoes had the tightest sound. That snare sounds fantastic and locks in with military precision with the guitar. A true standout band.

On GTF today

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Thank you John! Worship

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

One of the best shows yet!

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I got curious about Randy Seol the drummer who went on to sing Incense and Peppermints. I was familiar with the pic of The Goldtones on the 45 sleeve and figured that was all there was.

ok, that is NOT the same bass player! Nice pedal steel too. Top of the line Fender. I just assumed Glenn used some lap steel on that record. It's obvious their parents really supported their talents.

Thanks John, great show! You're doing a real service to surf music with these podcasts.

Paul

The Dead Planet Surfers

Listening again to the inland empire bands special again.
I have to say this is a really good show.
I think it’s my favorite one yet!

thanks John!

I just corrected the times for the "Bad News" stream on GTF Instrumental. Didn't occur to me (duh!!) until a day or two ago that most of the US turned our clocks ahead an hour a week ago. The GTF schedule didn't change, which threw the schedule off here. So, new stream times PST, an hour ahead of what it was before. If you're as confused as I appear to be, this daylight savings baloney will cease to exist next year.

Thank you for your incredible knowledge, clear, articulate presentation and of course, sharing your amazing one-of-kind collection!

I’ll say it again and again…we are SO fortunate to have this show! —

I’ve been telling people in person about it.
as they haven’t seen this thread or the FB posts.
