Permalink Getting a spring crash sound from a spare reverb tank. Possible?

Hello! I recently swapped the stock reverb tank that came with the Vox AC15 for a better Accutronics one. So I have a spare reverb tank. My question is is there anyway I can make this tank into a Spring Crash sound machine? Maybe it can be an extension of my pedalboard or separate unit that I can hook up to a PA system that I can kick to get the crash sound when needed? Can this be done? Thank you!

I have seen this done live by the band Tremolo Beer Gut. I asked folks on this forum where to purchase one for the same reason you have but unfortunately never received a reply.

Hi, I'm Gellert, guitarist for The Fintastics.

This article by Gabe Roth of Desco & Daptone Records has instructions for connecting a reverb tank directly to a mixing desk. In your case I'm guessing it might be even simpler, since there's no "input" as such.

It's also just a fun, opinionated read if you're interested in lo-fi recording techniques in general Smile

MartinB Thank you for the link. I'll share this with some of my techie friends and see if they can figure something out.

In lieu of actually owning a proper reverb tank, the Spiratones kick/drop a spring reverb fitted 80s Sunn PA mixer. It can be heard on our track Spiratonic.
We've not used it live but it could easily be connected to a mixer using one of the aux outs.

Great article! I love where that fellow is coming from. And I really like that mixer / reverb pan setup!
