I've got a Carvin Belair 212 combo, which is open back. Not exactly sure what circuit it's based off of, but it sounds decent for 60's Rock, Surf, etc. It doesn't have stock speakers; it has two G12T-75s, which aren't too bad. I have a Celestion V30 (UK made) lying around and was wondering how that would work/sound. Thank you for any info.

I have a pair of Celestion V-30s in one of my old Fender 2-12 black Tolex cabinets. I think they sound fine. Do they sound like JBL's or EV's? Nope but they still sound good.
I never liked them in the Dual Professional Amp I had years back but that amp sounded sterile to me anyway, but I like them just fine with any of my blackface era amps.
I have a pair of EV-12L's in one of those cabinets and they sound really good. Very transparent. Unlike JBL's the EV's are very neutral sounding. Historically they are very rugged, sound huge, but they aren't light.

Thank you for your feedback. I noticed with the G12T-75s, there was a bit of an icepick effect going on, unless I really messed with the mid and bass (I try not to use too much bass). Hopefully the V30 helps smooth it out. I’m thinking a Tonebender would sound great through a V30 (at least better than current setup).
