Permalink FS Brownface Bandmaster 11/62 6G7-A

I've decided to sell my Bandmaster locally. It's dated 11/62 and has been recovered in correct tolex/grille. When I got it, it was a real mess. Someone had covered it in black LEATHER, yes, leather. It was stripped and recovered to bring it back to correct cosmetics.

The only thing I'm unsure about is the 606 1973 code on the output transformer. It's a 125A6A, which was used on Bandmasters from 1962-into the 1970s, so I assume it's been changed. The power transformer is 125P7A 6G6-A Bassman tranny from 20th week of 1962 for some reason. Maybe it was changed out as well? Choke is correct for the 41st week of '62

I'd like to keep it in the surf family and I'll sell it here for $2500 and I have super nice covers for cab and head. I'm in FXBG, VA.

Did you watch the video posted here?

Uncle Doug digs into all the ins and outs of a 63 Bandmaster and had a similar mystery in terms of the power transformer.

Matt, this is one of my great dream amps. You may or may not remember I have a weird nerdy (and probably non-accomplishable) goal of collecting all of the Fender 1962 big(ish) amps... But I only have two at the moment. I am not working due to disability (but I am not receiving any disability pay) and my income has been nonexistent for six months. The show are usually work on started one week ago, without me. Very sad.

I hope it goes to somebody on this site. The price is reasonable as heck!

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope something good comes your way soon.

Have you sold this yet Matt? I'm listing mine in my local area.

I have not. I'm not really in any hurry to, either. I think I'd regret it big time, if it actually sold. It's just collecting dust in the meantime.

I was hoping some vintage guys with cash would pick up on mine. I wouldn't sell it cheap. The pricing on Reverb is pretty high for brownies.

I have space under my existing Pro Block that I want to add another Pro Block. Two surfy bears, two amps and 2 1x15 cabs for shows in the future.

What's going on in that pic? Pro converted to head form and to cabs?

Can you explain your set up?
I'm interested in the idea of two surfy bears - I got the drip switch with the hope that I could turn it on and utilize real drippy lead or dyad rhythms, then switch it off for full chords that aren't too shrill/ice picky.... but that didn't work out right... Couldn't get the drip switch to behave like I intended.

Wondering now if maybe I need two different surfy bears for that effect.

The story behind the dual reverb quilty bear is that I wanted to A/B switch two separate reverb units in much the same way you described using the drip switch. Another purpose was to run two separate amps in stereo from my El Capistan. Two amps is always better than one for creating space and fullness. The amp head started as a Fender FM100 head that was gutted yet I utilized part of the faceplate to house the surfy bear controls and inputs/outputs. It also left me room to stack two pans and start a quilter stack on the one side. I ordered more knobs from Quilter to make everything more uniform.

I have found that over time, I prefer using the quilter to either of my bandmasters. For low volume you just cant beat the tone and at higher volume it also shines since I'm not dragging heavy gear to gigs making multiple trips with amps and tanks. This is why I'm going to add another PB200 to the head and run 2 small 1x15 cabs once this stupid pandemic goes away and we can all perform again.
