Permalink Lords of Atlantis: "Long Live the King!" - new band with Ivan Pongracic, Jeremy DeHart and Dane Carter - video premiere!

New Topic

Jeremy DeHart (AKA Kane Manakoora, The Manakooras, the A-Men, Aqualads, The Blair Pongracic Band), Dane Carter (The Madeira, the Troubadours, The Blair Pongracic Band) and I are very excited to present the very first song ever by our new band Lords of Atlantis - our tribute to Dick Dale, King of the Surf Guitar, on the 18-month anniversary of his passing: here's "Long Live The King!" Dick was truly a force of nature, and he's left a huge void in the surf music scene. We wanted to show our love and appreciation for the man and his massive musical influence on us.

We recorded this during our four-day musical 'retreat' back in July. It's a live take, recorded by Jeremy, who played both rhythm guitar and bass (which he overdubbed). He also mixed the track AND edited this tribute video! What a guy!!!

We hope you enjoy both the song and the video!! We are Lords of Atlantis! Big Grin Headbang

I'd been waiting to see what you guys came up with and that does not disappoint! I love how you captured the raw, relentless power of the man and the ocean that inspired him. That big, live sound is just epic!! WOW! Such a fitting tribute.

I echo what Robbie above said! More!

What a great project. Glad you guys are keepin at it!

Very amazing music and pictures. You guys really got the feeling of the early surf music like Dick Dale on his first album "Surfer´s Choice"!!!
Hope to hear more from you soon!!
Stay safe and healthy wherever you are!

Really sounds great.

Thumbs Up

Wow, thank you all so much for the enthusiastic comments, we truly appreciate them!! Very encouraging to get such wonderful feedback right out of the gate!! Y'all rock! Thank you!

For those of you asking for more: we were able to work on seven songs in total (six originals, one cover) when we got together in July, and only one other track is good enough to possibly make public. We'll see if we can do that, stay tuned.

For those of you enjoying the track that didn't see my previous announcement about this band, in a nutshell the story is: Dane, Jeremy and I have known each other for a pretty long time, and got to play together in the Blair-Pongracic Band in 2016 and 2017, touring California and the East Coast. We loved not only playing but also hanging out together and had talked about doing something together since then, unfortunately not easy since we're spread out across three states (MI, IN, and NC). (Jeremy actually stepped in for Todd, who was recovering from a wrist surgery, for the Madeira's most recent show, in Grand Rapids, MI in December.) The opportunity finally presented itself with the COVID shutdown, so we agreed to assemble at my place in late July for four days. As I teach at a college, and there was nobody around in late July, we were able to get permission to use the college's main music hall for the duration. Both Jeremy and Dane are very good at home recording, so they set up the recording gear, just for the sake of later reference. But we were able to capture several live takes that were surprisingly good given we had just learned and developed all these songs, AND the sound captured and mixed by Jeremy was just phenomenal, so we decided to go public with it. That's the story so far! We very much hope to be able to get together several more times in the future and pull together a full album! Let's hope for the best.

Here are a few photos of us working on the songs back in July - it was a SPECTACULAR place to play music and be creative! Truly wonderful!

Thank you so much again!
