Recorded Live. Radio broadcast on WIDR in Aug 2019. More surf than jazz but the real "surf" portion really kicks in about 2 mins into the song. This one has been in our set from our first gig in 2013. Someday will record and release it formally. Hope you enjoy!

Love this tune. Excellent arrangement! Kool!

Nice! Reminds me of the Jokers in the way it takes a tune from another genre and brings it into the surf zone. I’ve played that song a zillion times in straight jazz groups. This really shines a light on Monk’s playful side. At first I thought ya’ll dumped the melody altogether cause it grooved a pretty long time before it came in. Very fun! Great performance!

Thanks! Yes it's always fun to play that song without first announcing it. You can tell as soon as the melody (eventually) kicks in who in the audience is into/plays jazz tunes.

Wow, really nice arrangement. I dig it!
What kind of guitar is that sonic blue one, btw?

My brother is playing the translucent blue semi-hollow Heritage ES-? (forget the model). Heritage Guitars is based in Kalamazoo, MI where we are from and my brother worked there for many years building/painting guitars. He custom built this one from spare parts he was able to collect.

If it sounds/looks familiar, the guitar factory is in the original building where all Gibson guitars were built until 1984 when they moved operations to Nashville. Many of the craftsman decided not to move and started their own company using most of the original machinery used to build Gibson guitars. The "surf green" guitar you also see in the video is one he also built... but as his own guitar company. https://www.kaltone.com/kal-tone-guitars.htm
