I saw this on a local ad last night. Free to a good home. I couldn't belive I was the first to hit him up (I'm never lucky with such things)! Got it this morning. A Valco National 1224 amp. I've dated it to 1957. Powers up, but doesn't work. Needs a ton, probably. Long term project I'm psyched to take on (unless someone has a reverb unit they want to trade, lol). Anyone know about these? I can't find a ton online about this particular model.

Nice score! I haven't watched this whole thing but he might provide useful info for you regarding your future internal work.
At the very least, you'll get to hear what it sounds like. Spoiler: it sounds awesome.

Anyone who is interested in vintage Valco amps might want to check out Vintage 47 Amps. They make handwired new versions of the classic Valco made amps down to the 6"x9" speakers, Octal tubes, coverings, etc. Pretty reasonably priced also. They even make a Gibson VA185G style amp and a Gretsch Cowboy. Very cool stuff.
