I don't have time to figure out which Forum to post this, so it is going right here!
Dick was rushed to the hospital as a result of a very low heart beat and hypertension. The doc's just planted a Pacemaker, but it looks like major heart surgery is around the corner, a very short corner at best.
Dick will be eight-two in a few more months, so, no need to elaborate how significant his medical impairment is and the life-threatening nature of the surgery at his age.
This is the talented musician who started Surf music and if it was not for him, the genre would not have been born. On that "note," because this site is a staunch promoter of the genre and supports those who have contributed to the genre in any manner, lies the only reason I am making this post.
Keep Dick in your prayers and thoughts.
I will post an update when we speak to attending physicians.

No need to justify your posting this, I hope Dick conquers this like he's conquered everything else that's hit him.

Wow. I hope he’s okay, and not in too much pain. So sorry to hear this. This year has sucked so far. My cat died suddenly two weeks ago, I broke up with a lovely girl a week ago, and now this. Fuck.
I hope you feel better soon Mister Dale.

Prayers, love, and respect for DD.
He's the reason why I listen to Surf music at all.
Hope you hang in there and beat it all, Sir.

Dick Dale is a music hero to a lot of us but he also soldiered through many devastating and life-threatening illnesses. We are rooting for you, Dick!

The last time I saw him, he looked a bit tired and was moving slow. Maybe heart surgery will help to set things right.
Best wishes to Dick, et al.

It's serious, no doubt, but depending on his overall health this might have an upside. If this is something that's been dogging him by tiny degrees for a long time, he might come out the other side of it feeling better than he has in a long time. In general I think cardiac surgeons do pretty miraculous work, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for The King.

UPDATE: Lana and I left the hospital about midnight last night. The doctor said the surgery for the pacemaker went fine. Dick has three blocked arteries so surgery is planned to remedy that problem next week but Dick remains hospitalized until then. He also has some pulmonary problems so it’s gonna be a big fight. He was smiling and eating when we left. Even at Dick’s age, he is a fighter, so as someone here pointed out here, he won’t give up.

Probably more so than any other music genre, Dick Dale is clearly our King. You tell someone you play surf music, and every single time the response is "Oh, like Dick Dale?" Meeting him on the road revealed the legend is true... he is one tuff mother. Get well, and we look forward to hearing you again in the future.

That's great - sounds like angioplasty next - that's not too bad - maybe they got it just in time then, Hope he survives the hospital food though - sometime the menus are not that good - get well soon DD

Please give the Doctor the sheet music or TABs for "Surf Beat" to make sure he calibrates the pacemaker correctly.
