Permalink PODCAST: Introduction to Surf Music

New Topic

I just uploaded A Day at the Beach - Podcast #150. I made it at the request of my son who wanted a better understanding of what "surf music" is and how it got started.

I am sure that all of us has had someone question us as to what surf music is or inform us that surf music is The Beach Boys, etc. You can try to explain, but it you're like me, give up after a few attempts at naming off a few bands that they have never heard of.

This one-hour podcast goes into brief but substantial detail to the history of surfing, the electric guitar, rock & roll, the surf craze of the 60's, The Beatles and the resurgence of the genre. See the post on my Playlist thread for more details.

Please listen and share your thoughts. My hope is that you will use this podcast as a "Go To" reference when you need to explain surf music to a friend.

Just tell them to google "A Day at the Beach Podcast 150"

Thanks guys... would love to hear your comments after you listen.

Thanks again for producing A Day at the Beach and this particular show.

As you know I've been using Surf Music as the soundtrack in my YouTube videos. Someone on one of the bike forums commented on it and that led to a separate thread to discuss Surf Instrumental music.

I just posted a link to #150 there, as well as a bit about how I got interested in Surf
