Can anyone tell me what type of key board was used on the original version of pipeline.
Thanks
Joel

An entry at the top of this page claims it was a Wurlitzer. More info on this page.

You can hear the same instrument prominently in the New Dimensions stuff. They really bang on theirs. And actually, that player went on to play in Three Dog Night, who's listed in that first link. I bet it was the same actual piano, too.

Wurlitzer 112, same as Ray Charles used

That is one ancient Wurley, I've never seen one that old.

Probably the best 2 minutes and 23 seconds in surf history! Very cool to see that video again. Bob Spickard is still playing regularly and having fun...

Rob Marshall would know. As Peter Frampton would say...

Rob Marshall on keys...Rob Marshall.

Happy Sunsets!

Thanks guys!
I knew I could count on you for an answer.

I played Pipeline w Bob Spickard and Deke Dickerson at one of Dekes Guitar Geek festivals awhile back. Bob’s kid played a Wurlitzer 112, and it was pretty eerie actually. It WAS THE sound. It was a sublime moment.

Yes! 'The sound' is why I ask.
I've been trying to get 'the sound' from the keys I have, but not yet. At least I know what to look for now.
Thank you for your input.
