Princeton Reverb in any form.....used reissues are a good deal. The silverface reissues are also excellent and less $$$. Plus, you have good tube driven tremolo and good in-amp reverb covered. For the all important wet, drippy, outboard tank reverb, a Surfy Bear would be perfect however if budget is a concern, an EHX Oceans Eleven pedal does the drippy surf sound plus other very useful reverbs at a very reasonable price point plus it doesn't take up much room and it will fit in most guitar cases or gig bags. On the non tube front, a Tech 21 Trademark 60 won't break the bank (especially used), are pretty bullet proof and produce some great clean tones....you'll need to invest in a tremolo pedal in addition to the aforementioned Surfy Bear or Oceans 11 pedal.
Just my two cents.

Princetons RAWK! My new Winfield is essentially a Brownface Princeton, which is to say that it’s pretty much the same circuit as a Blackface, but has bias-modulating tremolo and a single tone control. The power section is pretty much identical and the sound is perfect for Surf.

I'm going to be the odd one out and suggest an Excelsior.

Most of the obsession has faded, which means that prices are back down to something sensible. You're left with a decent fender tube amp, 1x15 with a trem. It's a decent (and tested) surf amp, it's relatively inexpensive, and it should last.

The 'Pro' is nice if you can get one, but it's mostly a speaker swap and a different vinyl so don't overstress.

Excelsiors are an excellent amp. I gave one away, some years ago, and miss it, at times.
