Rebel Rouser, the first guitar instrumental I ever heard. Never forgot it, never outgrew it. It's great to see Duane still chuggin' along. |

Seeing Duane Eddy perform has been on my bucket list for some time... HUGE influence! He's actually playing at Viva Las Vegas this year (Saturday April 21), along with The Stray Cats (also on the bucket list since 1983... before we even had bucket lists). LOL Too tempting to pass up the opportunity to catch them both, so the missus and I just booked flights last week. Added bonus, Deke Dickerson's Guitar Geek festival is scheduled for the same weekend. Beyond stoked! -M —http://www.reverbnation.com/elmiragesurf "I knew I was in trouble when the Coco-Loco tasted like water!" -- morphball |

I can't say I'm Duane's biggest fan but I've always liked his music. This thread prompted me to watch a few Duane Eddy videos. I found out "Have Twangy Guitar Will Travel" was Rock 'n Roll's first stereo record and "Ramrod" was nearly-maybe the first surf record? a little bit of a stretch that one me thinks. Anyway, all was good until I found one entitled: "Duane Eddy Story Part One" whereby a guy claims Al Casey played guitar on Ramrod. here... |

It may be possible that he did. My memory is hazy at best, but I think Duane played it on the road and it went over so well that they needed a single, so Al Casey did the honors, while Duane was still on the road. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

Big fan here, he's a guitar legend. Have seen Duane Eddy perform in 2010 in London/UK and in 2012 in Newcastle/UK. To celebrate his 80th birthday and 60th anniversary of the release of 'Rebel Rouser', his autobiography will be published this year. — |

He played at the Ponderosa Stomp when I was volunteering backstage. I accidentally got locked outside so I waited by the door for the next person to come out. That person was Duane Eddy. We chatted for 5-10 minutes, he was SUPER nice, genuinely seemed interested in talking to me, introduced me to his wife. I was a Duane Eddy fan already but even moreso now. — |
