Aliexpress is offering a Mosrite Blues Bender repro

I have had okay experiences with Aliexpress but here goes another: They are offering a Mosrite Blues Bender repro for around $450 with hardshell case. So-do I feel lucky? I can go in for $450. Reminds of the old candy machine ploy, "Guess what--take a chance--you may get two." No guts no glory.

Why not just place the $450.00 in front of your next urine stream, let it dry, and then build a fire?

This company builds cheap (as in quality) knockoffs of the real stuff. The $$$ involved with lawsuits on an international level make it prohibitively expensive for the name brand companies to sue. So, the lovable Chinese go carte blanche (a little French lingo, there) producing this firewood.
Dissatisfied? Want your money back? Loose that idea. This outfit won't pay for return shipping/customs. Wanna bitch and moan to them over it? You probably will hit a very stiff (on purpose) language barrier.
Figure you'll put as much $$$$ (or more)as you spent with decent electronics and fix ups; if fix ups are even doable.
As has been said - "If it's too good to be true, it probably is".
But ignore all this if you really get off on aggravation.

BTW $450.00 is a bit steep for what may just become a wall hanger.
A fool and his money....... well - you know.
I have a cheap knock-off of a bridge that cross the East River. Interested?

My favorite part of that guys videos is how much he bashes the cheap guitar, but then he does a video series on another AliExpress Tele, and several cheap Chinese Les Paul's he has bought too. He's a slow learner.

450.00 is a lot of money to risk with a cheap Chinese guitar. You might get lucky but that's too much to risk. I bought not one but two chibson flying V customs for 220 US a piece and they are fantastic playing guitars. Frets were perfect, finish was beautiful, pickups needed swapped and the tuners work but not great. Rip on me if you like but I've wanted flying v's my whole life but they aren't real cheaP AND easy to find so I decided to give it a try. When not playing surf these go through my marshalls just for fun and crunch.

I've owned a few and know players who've bought them as well, the results range from useable with some fix up to firewood, improvised boat paddle or baseball bat. My guitar tech has a Chibson Les Paul that he fixed up with spare pickups and electronics. Plays it out at bars where's he's afraid someone might steal his LP Standard.

I agree that it is a crap shoot. I bought a knockoff Rickenbacker #4003 bass earlier this year. Frets were too high and I had a local luthier clean them up and do other set-up work to the tune of $60. I am extremely pleased with this bass. No, it is NOT Rickenbacker quality. However, for the money it is enjoyable. You folks are spot on about the guys on you-tube that seem to constantly buy these knock-offs and then rip on the quality. They need to find something else to do. When this finally shows up, I'll post photos of it. No fool like an old fool; then again, we'll see.

I bought this SX bass guitar for $180 a couple of months ago. Made in China. Right out of the box it feels great and sounds great. Not as much luck with the SX Strat clone that I bought for $160. Took a little work to make it playable.

I think it’s plum crazy to drop $450 on new Chinese knockoffs of dubious quality when that price could fetch a ‘vintage’ Japanese knockoff of proven quality. Fuji Gen, Matsumoku et.al. luthiers have earned a respect because their axes were often better built than the ‘real’ ones made in America by Fender and Gibson especially in the 70s and 80s when quality control bedeviled the famous brands. The ‘lawsuit’ copies, aged 30+ years are pre-depreciated and widely available on cl and in stores where you can actually play them before committing your cash.
Another concern is the ethics of companies that willfully counterfeit American brands to sell them to Gwailo here in Mae Guo - that’s just evil! Why would you want to help those scumbags profit?

Find me a lawsuit anything for $450. The market has skyrocketed for them.

That said, I wouldn’t write off a $450 guitar just because of where it’s made. I should also say: I’ll play just about anything. Within reason that is. No figury/flamey woods or ornate craziness.

Okay, so here's my Mosrite Blues Bender Tribute Guitar. It took four months to get from China at a total of $443 with hard shell case. Setup cost addl. $40 and Mosrite-style knobs from Hallmark were $75. Strings it came with were horrid; very thin and tinny-sounding. Installed Ernie Ball Medium Beefy Slinky 11-54 (#2627 pack) and it has a nice loud clean "Roadhouse" tone. After set-up, action is very nice. Had to hunt around for a push button dpdt phase switch. I wired up and installed the switch but pickups only have two leads so that's another project for another time. Instead of farting around with it, it is time to go play and enjoy. Would I do it again? NO! Other guitars are a far better value but it is way way less than the Eastwood 300 Mosrite Clone at about $790 with hard shell case. I'm glad I have it however.
