Permalink Unthreaded vibrato for Classic Player Jaguar?

New Topic

I have a Classic Player Jaguar (the vibrato has a threaded arm and the whole tail piece is moved slightly closer to the bridge).

The threading is annoying... it's not a snug fit for the arm so it doesn't feel smooth. Staytrem looked like a good solution but I actually like the arm falling down when I let go of it.

Any ideas? Are AVRI vibratos pop-in?

Thanks

I used white plumbers tape on mine, it works ok. There's probably better solutions.

Yes. That's what I'd get if you want to change the whole vibrato assembly.

There is also the option to replace only the vibrato arm and collet. It's a bit trickier because according to the Staytrem website both the US-style 3/8" thread collet and the import 10mm thread collet have been used at different times in MIM Jags. Have a look at this page to help you figure out which model is yours; then I suppose you could find an arm & collet quite easily considering how many people have upgraded theirs to Staytrem.
