Permalink Fender RI reverb unit - no reverb... BUT...

New Topic

I brought home a blackface RI unit yesterday. Dry signal is fine, but no reverb - but, when I knock the chassis about, it makes that "Wipeout intro" sound, so it seems the pan is OK. I do notice the mix knob gives a loud signal at 1, but barely anything at 10. Tone does nothing, dwell does nothing. I plugged in a shorted plug into the switch port and no change.

I apologize if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find a match to my situation in the forum.

I'd check the 6K6GT (or 6V6GT) and also the continuity of both coils of the output transformer (TR2). You'd have to pull the RCA cables before you measure the output side, and pull the 6K6 when you check the input side. Good luck!

Check tube 1 also. Slight chance one side of it is faulty.

Swap out each tube with a known good one to see it its that first.

Then try fresh pan send/return cables.

Report back.
