What are some common scales used in surf rock? I currently only know the major and minor pentatonic scale and I'm looking to expand my repertoire.
Thank you!

Learn complete major scales, not just the pentatonics. Then learn natural, melodic and harmonic minors. |

If you ignore all the guitar scale questions, you can find some previous discussions here: https://surfguitar101.com/search/?q=scales&exact=&exclude=&models=forums.topic —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

I've gotten a lot of millage out of this scale: R b2 3 4 5 b6 7 1. Pretty exotic sounding. Also, the 4th mode of harmonic minor is a really cool sub for any minor scale: R 2 b3 #4 5 6 b7 1. Sometimes called Dorian #4. On the guitar you get some really cool half-step patterns with this scale. — |
