This is Gellert speaking. My wife is staying behind in Texas and letting me attend this year's SG101 convention alone. I am planning on renting a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom or 3 bedroom/3 bath directly on the beach. (Either at Redondo Beach or Manhattan Beach). Torrance is due east of both beaches, about 6 miles. (Map attached for reference).
I'd like to find another person or two to share it with and split the cost. Most you'd pay is $75-$150 a night. I'll be arriving Thursday before the show and leaving the following Monday. I'm a non-smoker, laid back and an all around easy-going, mellow guy as several people on here know me personally. (Noel, Chad, and Don). Also I play lead guitar in my surf band, The Fintastics. The more of us that are in, the larger of a place we can all enjoy together. On. The. Beach.
If interested, I can be reached at GellertD@gmail.com.
Cheers!

I have two gnarly, surfin' roommates now so our beach house is full capacity!
Thanks to Jeff i.e. Big Tiki Dude for spreading the word and helping me along.

This is a great approach and I'd extend this to looking at sometimes under-booked "corporate housing" complexes (companies keep big apartments around for fly-ins of their reps, etc.) for a week's stay or so, for those who are taking in the whole experience, pre- ane after-shows. Superb idea.

I'd also like to recommend that others do this too,
And also consider sharing car rental to save more money.

Is this still on the table? It really sounds like a great way to do it and my wife would probably stay behind if I go, so a house with some surf nuts sounds pretty great.

If not available, I'm sure some still need to get Motels for the convention, I suggest sharing a room with 2 beds for those that aren't
Uptight and need to save money.

For those that would like to rent a place near the beach, even through the usual short term rental organizations, please be careful. Scam artiest are very happy to take your money and rent you a property they don't own or represent as an agent. Craigslist is the worst place for these type scams.
