I've heard most of the songs and we did fairly well for basically our first gig. Some rough stuff in there but I liked this one.

I hate seeing this thread vanish into the bottom of the thread window so BUMP!.

As a self-proclaimed outsider both musically and sociologically I want to thank Dave and Tom and Cambreezy amd Doc and Bill and Briana (if that's her real name) and Mitch (your beard is longer in person) and all the drummers of the Kahuna Kings (there were several) and of course the delectable Shrimp Cocktail for a most excellent night out. I felt I was really a part of something which is rare for me.

Thanks especially to Dave of the Kings- It was great smoking cigs and swapping lies in the parking lot while the opening band played their set. Bill's daughter bought their CD and said they were 'really good'.

So that's TWO surf shows I been to!

Cool story of the experience; never underestimate the power of lofty thinking while smoking in the parking lot.

I hope summer brings some more surf to the midwest, even "more-wester" than Ohio.

I play bass in the Kahuna Kings, and had a blast! I wish I would have gotten to meet people from the forum. Hopefully next time. A BIG thanks to Dave for making all of this happen! I couldn't believe I found a surf band here in Akron. It was a great show all around, and Dave was awesome. All of my friends had a terrific time and said they want to see us again anytime we play.

I want less sustain. My notes are so tortured it seems only humane to let them die as quickly as possible.

That's a terrific testament; there ya go. Reminds me of roadhouse days & one special place as I told Dave. Not the biggest, not the best paying gig, but we could always go there, always have a crowd & have fun. Such a place becomes special.

Now get back to mastering that album! Big Grin

Doug (Syndicate) that was really a blast smoking a cig and shooting the shit out in the ally before the show. It really took my mind off my nerves. Best thing for me and that was some fun conversation. Laughed my ass off at some of the stuff we talked about! Next time we all get together it will be somewhere and even bigger no matter who puts it on. Glad the surf community is growing larger in Northern Ohio. It feels like a fellowship!

Wes, you would have had a blast with the gang that was assembled in that club. All good salt of the earth people that now love surf!

Gary, you were the last key element to come together. It's been a blast ever since and this band can finally play hard and entertain a crowd. Killer!

Thanks all!!! Big Grin Cool
