Permalink FS blackface Blonde single Fender Showman SOLD

New Topic

No hurry to sell this, but it's a Showman amp that I've had for quite a few years. I bought the 1966 head from John Blair and recovered it in blonde/gold to match the Beaver Bottoms cab with the tone ring. Cabinet has a JBL K140 in it because I wanted to use the amp for bass. I have a 15" vintage Gauss speaker that I can also throw in to the deal. Problem is, I don't want to ship this behemoth and I'm in Southern Arizona. I would be willing to meet within a 300 mile radius. SOLD. Amp works perfectly! I have vinyl covers for head and cab that I'll include as well.

I really wish I needed this too. I'd drive and meet you but there's no way I can have a 4 6L6 amp in the townhouse I'm buying.

Thanks guys. The price is right for what it is and its history. I just don't use it and it takes up a lot of room. I have a combo bass amp that's easier to cart around and I have other guitar amps that always win out over the Showman.

What?! you don't need a 4 6L6 amp in a townhouse!? Wink Understood. I would never plug this one in at home. It sure would make a nice piece of furniture in your new home, though. Wink

I can vouch for this amp. If you want THE surf tone, this is it. Great amp at a great price. Someone needs to jump on this! I would if I could!

Thanks Bob! I have a few interested parties and I'd want it to stay in the surf family. Hopefully one of the Surfside IV will jump on it.

Hey Matt, I know it's off topic but how is the D140 for guitar? I've seen one for what looks like a good price.

I've always found it to be excellent. I like lower-end though.

Hey, I'd like you guys to get it. I have a matching Bandmaster cab as well that I'd sell so you can try to get matching amps. There is another interested party, but SSIV has first dibs.

No shit. We're were already deafeningly loud... Anyhow, this looks like a solid piece and, from all accounts, sounds simply fantastic. Aesthetically pleasing. A nice addition to the back line. Price was quite nice. What's not to love? Can't wait to give it a listen and, seeing as it's the last thing I'll probably ever hear, at least it'll be something sonorous. Thanks, Matt!

Now I gotta find a blondie for myself?

You're quite welcome! I have a line on another Showman head that I may pair with my extra bandmaster cab. It doesn't sound as good as the tone ring cabinet, but sounds great nonetheless (think Twin amp).

You'll all be OK. Showmans are loud amps, but so are Twin Reverbs. Smile

Two Showmans on stage was a highlight for the Ottomans! Nothing quite like the tone-ring cabs. I think I'll blow the dust off mine & fire it up today. It's been a few weeks. Enjoy that old Showman Trey, it's a good one!
